So when I had all my cupcakes backed I was ready to start decorating and I had 3 themes in mind.
First I mixed up a batch of icing just simply flavoured vanilla. I then split this in to three bowls ready for the different designs.
For the chocolate cakes I wanted to decorate them with ghosts so I kept the icing white and also used marshmallows...
For the chocolate cakes I wanted to decorate them with ghosts so I kept the icing white and also used marshmallows...
First I piped a bit of icing in the centre to stick the marshmallow down.
Then lightly press the marshmallow down. I thought he looked a bit odd so i decided to add some more icing to blend him in to the cake a bit.
He looks a bit weird because by this point my icing had heated up in the piping bag from the heat of my hands.
After a little sit in the fridge he was fine..,
I then needed to add the face! I used a few different colours, now looking back I definitely want some black icing for next year!
Now for the vanilla cakes I wanted to use purple and orange food colouring. So I thought I could make some form of pumpkins with the orange and then the purple I kept pain as I had some halloween sprinkles I wanted to use.
I started with a splodge of orange, again this was quite runny due to the heat in the kitchen but it all worked out after another trip to the fridge.
I used orange icing to mark out the lines of the pumpkins and green for the top of the pumpkin. If you didn't know its view from above the pumpkin... my boyfriend couldn't work it out! lol
I finished the pumpkin cakes off with a couple of skull and cross bones sprinkles =)
The purple cakes are simply vanilla like the pumpkin cakes but wiht purple icing and lots of halloween sprinkles =)
This is how my Halloween cupcake army turned out...
